About me
Nathan Sissom is a cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in cyber operations, intelligence analysis, engineering, and consulting. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, along with a graduate certificate in International Security from Harvard University Extension School.
Nathan’s career began with an INSPIRE internship at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, followed by a cooperative education role at Mentor Graphics Corporation, where he streamlined build processes and code management. As a graduate student, he received the National Science Foundation’s CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS) and contributed to security research for additive manufacturing at UAH’s Information Technology and Systems Center. He also served as Vice President for UAH’s Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) chapter and was a finalist in the National Cyber Analyst Competition.
Throughout his career, Nathan held multiple roles as a government civilian with the Department of Defense doing network analysis, exploitation, and intelligence assessments. He has also worked for various companies including: Novetta, Accenture Federal Services, and Fidelis Cyber Security. Currently, he serves as a Senior Security Engineer and a Consultant for Splunk Professional Services at Guidepoint Security while also teaching part-time in the Computer Science Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Nathan holds multiple cybersecurity certifications, including CISSP, Security+, Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect, and a half dozen GIAC/SANS credentials. Based in Huntsville, AL, he enjoys board games, reading, hiking, and playing D&D with friends.
